Samuel Avital studied in Paris with Marcel Marceau, Jean-Louis Barrault, and Etienne Decroux. He toured Europe, North and South America before settling in Boulder, Colorado in 1971. He founded Le Centre Du Silence in Boulder and performed extensively locally and nationally.The purpose of LCDS is to surpass the normal communication means offered by the entertainment industry and to correct society's misuse of the spoken word.
He founded and directed the Boulder Mime Theatre (1972-1982), which toured nationally with an unusual repertoire depicting the genius and stupidity of human nature.
Avital established a remarkable reputation for the BodySpeak (tm) training with The International Summer Mime Workshop, a yearly event since 1975, attracting people from all over the world.
In 1986, Avital created, produced and performed "In Search of Destiny, Personal and Global." This performance explored the bicameral human behavior, the absurdities of human nature, the follies and the ecstasy of being human with integrated laughter as the link and efficient tool of learning toward conscious awareness of oneself and one's environment.
He published varous articles and interviews dealing with his work in English and French. He self-published his first book, Mime Workbook in 1971 (German edition Mimenspiel in 1985).
