Komidas (Gomidas) Vartabad

Born in 1869 in Kütahya, Ottoman Empire, died on October 22, 1935 in Paris, France, was an Armenian priest, composer, choir leader, singer, music ethnologist, music pedagogue and musicologist.

G.I. Gurdjieff was about 3 years younger than Komidas. Both lived and studied in Armenia.

Komidas moved to Paris in 1919. Gurdjieff settled outside Paris in 1922. Komidas died in Paris in 1935. Gurdjieff died outside Paris in 1949.
