Decision Maker Table
by Verve Consulting Services
1 House
2 New Car
3 Computer
4 Big TV
For example say you want four things but cannot afford all of them at once.
You begin by listing what it is you want. In the example we have listed:
1 House
2 New Car
3 Computer
4 Big TV
Now you go across the list starting with 1 (House) and ask yourself:
"Between a House (across) and a New Car (down) which is more important or which do I really want or need?"
When you answer you put the Number of the item in the box. So say you answered between the House and the New Car you want the House. You put the Number of the House (1) in the box like below.
1 House
2 New Car
3 Computer
4 Big TV
Now you continue down the first item, between the House and a Computer and the House and the Big TV, which is more important that you get it first? If you said the House again you put a Number 1 in the box like below.
1 House
2 New Car
3 Computer
4 Big TV
Now you continue with the next column 2 New Car. Between the New Car and the House. Between the New Car and the Computer and between the New Car and the Big TV. You might end up with this:
1 House
2 New Car
3 Computer
4 Big TV
Ok, now finish the items in the the remaining columns:
Between the Computer and the House, the New Car, and the Big TV.
Between the Big TV and the House, New Car, and Computer.
1 House
2 New Car
3 Computer
4 Big TV
Total Number 1: 6
Total Number 2: 3
Total Number 3: 2
Total Number 4: 1
Looks like the House wins!!
